Australian Daniel Erickson will get the chance to test his mettle against the world’s top up-and-coming drivers in next month’s Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch.
Erickson, from Orangeville in western Sydney, received confirmation today that the Australian Motor Sport Foundation (AMSF) has allocated additional funds to assist his entry into the stand-alone blue riband event on October 17-18.
The Festival is widely regarded by motorsport observers as a pointer to future champions.
Past winners include current Formula 1 World Championship leader Jenson Button as well as Australian F1 ace Mark Webber and V8 Supercar champion Russell Ingall.
Erickson will drive the same Australian-built Spectrum 011c with which he is contesting this year’s British Formula Ford Championship at the Festival.
The AMSF International Rising Star said that he was thrilled to be given the opportunity to compete at this year’s Formula Ford Festival.
“To race in the Festival was a dream of mine even before I started racing in Formula Ford.
“The competition is always incredibly intense, but I’m confident that I can do Australia, the AMSF and Spectrum Racing Developments proud.”
“Thanks to Martin Stillman and the AMSF, Mike Borland from Spectrum, and my other sponsors for making this dream come true!” Erickson said.
