George Miedecke aboard the JELD-WEN Marcos Ambrose Motorsport Ford Fusion has wrapped up second position in the UARA Stars Series, with a fourth place finish in the American 200 at the high banked Rockingham Speedway on the weekend.
The outstanding championship result compliments the Rookie of the Year title he wrapped up at the previous championship round at Concord Speedway.
The weekend started strongly for Miedecke, with the number nine machine fastest in practice before qualifying fifth.
With the track washed clean by overnight rain, the race proved to be a single lane procession, putting a premium on overtaking manoeuvres.
For Miedecke, 2011 proved to be a breakout season, with highlights also including a second place finish from his ARCA Racing Series debut in May.
"I could never have dreamed that we would finish second in the championship, it really has exceeded all of our expectations," Miedecke said.
"The support we have received from JELD-WEN has been fantastic, as has the guidance from Marcos and all of the team.
"During the race it was incredibly hard to pass- you would try to go high, but there wasn't the grip there to make it work.
"Racing at Rockingham is a great experience, to finish fourth is a top way to round out the season."
For team principal Marcos Ambrose, Miedecke's results throughout the season point to a bright future in the sport for the young Australian.
"For Marcos Ambrose Motorsport and George to finish second in our debut season is a massive achievement," Ambrose said.
"The UARA Stars Series is a very tough competition, and George was one of the drivers to beat all year long.
"It's been a great learning year, and we look forward to continuing our development program in 2012."
