DRIVERS investigating Formula 3 as the next step in their racing career will have an opportunity to test one of Australia’s quickest racing cars on Monday, December 19th at the inaugural Kumho Tyres Experience Formula 3 day.
Drivers are invited to contact Formula 3 Management (via the Formula 3 website, here) to secure their part of what will be the most cost-effective way possible to secure laps in a Formula 3 – or any ‘wings and slicks’ car - in Australia.
To be held at South Australia’s Mallala Raceway, The Kumho Tyres come and Try day will allow drivers to experience up to 25 laps in a professionally-run team for just $1500 (+GST), with a $500 cash-back, returned at the completion of a successful day’s testing.
Kumho Tyres will provide six sets of new tyres in support of the initiative, ensuring drivers get to experience the cars on new rubber and at their best potential.
Each car will have data analysis and on-board video provided to assist drivers in the process adapting to the Formula 3 cars.
A similar ‘Come and try’ day held in 2009 resulted in young stars Steel Guiliana, Josh Burdon and Ben Gersekowski all securing their positions on the Formula 3 grid, Guiliana winning this years’ Forpark Australia Scholarship and all three working on outright championship campaigns for 2012.
“Getting that first opportunity to test a Formula 3 car was key to us deciding to race in the category,” Josh Burdon said.
“The opportunity gave me the confidence that I could do the job in Formula 3, and that it was the right choice for my career. It’s been fantastic to be part of the championship and we are now in the process of putting together a full championship campaign next year to try and win the Gold Star.
“I would hugely encourage other drivers in a similar position to take the opportunity to test an F3 car when they can, they won’t look back.”
Interested parties have until Wednesday, December 14th to secure their position in the day.
All drivers interested in participating can contact Richard Craill in the first instance on 0408 813 141 or via richard.craill@formula3.com.au. Spaces are limited.
The F3 Australian Drivers Championship acknowledges and thanks 2011 partners Kumho Tyres, Forpark Australia, ELF (Race Fuels), Performance Friction Brakes and Race Torque Media for their support.
