Sargent Security Racing and star driver Paul ‘Dude’ Morris have put in two stellar performances during the penultimate round of the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Championship at Sandown Raceway.
After being taken out on lap one of the opening race on Saturday, and subsequently finishing race 1 with a DNF, Morris came out firing on Sunday with undoubtedly the drive of the weekend.
From 22nd on the grid he carved up the field to put the #67 Sargent Security Commodore on the podium with an incredible third place result in race 2!
“That was one hell of a race! I had to wheel the thing hard the entire way to make up that many spots,” commented Morris.
“The Sargent Security car is one of the strongest in the field and we proved that today [Sunday] by carving up 19 guys out there over 15 laps.”
Saturday’s DNF didn’t help Morris’ grid position for the final 15-lap race on Sunday afternoon having to start from the back once again, from grid spot 21. Again, this didn’t deter the spirits of the Dude who clawed back 15 spots to post another amazing result in sixth.
Race 3 however ended in controversy when Morris was taken out post-race by the #777 car of Rodney Jane in a not to dissimilar incident to the Kyle Busch and Ron Hornaday Jr scuffle in NASCAR’s truck series earlier this month.
You can see the controversial move Jane put on Morris plus a full wrap-up of all the action from Sandown in a one hour show on Network 7 next Sunday (Nov 27) at 12.30pm AEST *check local guides.
