Porsche City Index Carrera Cup Australia will have its best ever television package in 2012, featuring a strong local and international broadcast schedule.

For the new season, Porsche City Index Carrera Cup Australia will be shown locally on the Seven Network, Network Ten and SPEED, while the category will be beamed around the world via international broadcasters TV3 (New Zealand), SPEED 2 (North America) and Motors TV (Europe).

In Australia, the Porsche championship will have 11 races aired live, eight of which will be broadcast on the Seven Network, including two live races at the iconic Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.

In the Sydney and Brisbane markets, Porsche City Index Carrera Cup Australia’s live races will be aired solely on Seven, while five of the eight live races in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth will be shown on Seven, with the remaining races to be broadcast on 7mate.

Meanwhile, Formula 1TM host broadcaster Network Ten will televise all three Porsche City Index Carrera Cup Australia races live from the second round of the championship at the FormulaTM 1 Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park.

Seven 30-minute post-produced episodes will also be shown on 7mate in 2012.

Dedicated motorsport channel, SPEED, will also extensively cover the Porsche championship from each round that was broadcast on the Seven Network.

Internationally, Australia’s own Porsche championship will be available to over 60 million households worldwide.

In New Zealand, Porsche City Index Carrera Cup Australia will be aired on TV3, showcasing the many New Zealand drivers on the grid.

SPEED 2 will broadcast Porsche City Index Carrera Cup Australia across North America and will be available to approximately 40 million households across the United States of America and Canada.

The Australian based championship will also be beamed across Europe via Motors TV, which is available in approximately 40 different countries to 20.4 million households.

Porsche Cars Australia Motorsport Manager, Jamey Blaikie, says the local television package is better than ever and is complimented by a great list of international broadcasters.

“The television broadcasts are so important for the commercial side of motorsport so it’s great to announce such a comprehensive broadcast package for Carrera Cup in 2012,” said Blaikie.

“We had nothing but great feedback from our telecasts in 2011 and I’d like to thank Scott Young and V8 Supercar Television for again providing us with a brilliant television schedule in 2012.

“While it’s important to televise the category locally, I’m looking forward to showcasing Carrera Cup Australia around the world to such a vast audience – especially in New Zealand which is home to so many of our championship drivers.”

The opening event of the 2012 Porsche City Index Carrera Cup Australia championship is at the Clipsal 500 Adelaide on March 01-04, 2012.
